"I've just had a couple beers, Ociffer"
Did you know that the most common phrase uttered by a drunken driver when asked by a police officer how much he has had to drink is "a couple beers"? Repeating this mantra to Officer Hightower or whoever is fortunate enough to pull you over is certain to raise alarm bells and almost guarantees a field sobriety test will be conducted. For some reason, it's the answer that most drunks who are behind the wheel give to law enforcement. Officers are trained to smell for alcohol on the breath and in the car, to look for other indicators of drukeness such as slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, and you better believe they listen for that catch phrase as well. Do society a favor, and don't drink and drive. But if you do, and you find yourself the subject of a traffic stop, do yourself a favor and leave that catchprase in your cotton mouth. You just might get away with it, at least maybe "a couple" times.
